The Birth and Evolution of Sikhi

Sikhi was founded in the late 15th century by Guru Nanak Dev ji, born in 1469 in Punjab, which is now part of India and Pakistan. Guru Nanak's Dev ji teachings emphasized the oneness of God, the equality of all people, and the importance of living a truthful and honest life. Over the next two centuries, ten successive Gurus, including Guru Nanak Dev ji, contributed to the development of Sikhism. The tenth Guru, Guru Gobind Singh ji, formalized the Sikh community by establishing the Guru Granth Sahib ji, the holy scripture of Sikhism, as the eternal Guru. He also initiated the Khalsa, a community of initiated and dedicated Sikhs, who follow a code of conduct and embody the Sikh principles. Sikhism is characterized by its emphasis on devotion to one God, equality, community service, and the rejection of caste and religious distinctions. The teachings of the Gurus are compiled in the Guru Granth Sahib ji, which serves as the central religious scripture for Sikhs. Sikhism is the fifth-largest religion worldwide and is known for its commitment to humanitarian values and social justice.
